Ashbrook Junior School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. Applications are welcomed from candidates suitable for both Teaching Assistant Level 1 and Level 2, with the successful applicant appointed at the appropriate level based on their qualifications, skills and experience.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside teachers and support staff to provide high-quality support for all learners, including pupils with SEND and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Support pupils' learning across the curriculum through high-quality classroom support, planned interventions and personalised learning.
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to help them access learning and achieve their potential.
- Support children with SEND, including those with SEMH needs, using calm and effective strategies to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Encourage pupils' independence, confidence and resilience.
- Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom activities.
- Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development.
- Help maintain a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and external professionals.
- Provide personal and intimate care where required.
- Accompany pupils on educational visits and other school activities.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience of working with primary-aged children.
- Has experience of supporting pupils with SEND or is keen to develop this expertise.
- Is patient, caring, nurturing and enthusiastic.
- Can build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Uses effective behaviour management strategies and promotes inclusion.
- Can adapt learning to meet individual needs.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enjoys making a positive difference to children's learning and wellbeing.
