Salary Grade E point 13-19 (£29,064-£32,061 FTE per annum – pay award pending)

Pear Tree Community Junior School is looking for a motivated, energetic and organised individual to become our Site Manager. We are seeking an individual who is proactive and highly motivated and will take pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-presented school environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will be practical, organised and able to work on their own initiative, identifying and addressing issues. They will have a strong commitment to maintaining high standards across the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds and facilities are clean, secure, compliant and fit for purpose.

Excellent problem-solving skills, a positive attitude and the ability to manage a varied workload are essential. The ideal candidate will be reliable, hardworking and take ownership of the school environment, demonstrating a genuine pride in creating a school that pupils, staff and the wider community can be proud of. We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, builds positive relationships with others and is always willing to contribute to the wider life of the school.

Experience of premises management, health and safety requirements, building maintenance and contractor management would be advantageous. Above all, we are looking for someone who is approachable, flexible and committed to supporting the day-to-day operation and ongoing development of our school.

Main Responsibilities are: 

1. To be responsible for ongoing maintenance and operation of heating, lighting and boiler plant/equipment, ensuring all faults are reported and dealt with in a timely fashion. 
2. To assist with planning/overseeing all minor building works and repairs including obtaining quotes, liaising with suppliers, overseeing contractors and monitoring service level agreements. 
3. To report on progress and provide advice to the head teacher/facilities manager on all minor building works and repairs. 
4. To assume delegated responsibility for ensuring compliance to statutory regulations relating to, for example asbestos, PAT and legionella testing and to undertake risk assessments 
5. To be responsible for the security of the school premises and its contents. 
6. To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of cleaning staff, ensuring standards of cleanliness are maintained. To undertake cleaning duties (interior and exterior) as and when required.  
7. To attend school premises in cases of emergency e.g. intruders, fire, floods etc.  

 The successful candidate will be friendly, have good communication skills as well as the ability to adapt their approach to suit the needs and different personalities of the children. You will: 

1. has high standards and will take pride in making our school an exceptional learning environment 
2. can maintain and improve the appearance of the school, including repairs and maintenance 
3. is enthusiastic, self-motivated and has the ability to use their own initiative  
4. can manage health and safety and premises issues, including logs and risk assessments 
5. can organise their time effectively and communicate well with contractors and stakeholders 
6. will work in partnership with the cleaning team  
7. understands the benefit of enrichment or after school activities
