The Department
The SEND department is dedicated, collaborative, and inclusive. Our SEND team celebrates each pupil’s individuality and works with determination to remove barriers to learning. With strong communication, clearly defined roles, and a shared commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive support, the team ensures pupils with SEND can fully access the curriculum, feel valued, and achieve their full potential.
The Position
The Deputy SENCo plays a crucial role within the Inclusion Team, supporting the SENCO in the strategic, statutory, and operational management of SEND provision across the school. The post-holder ensures that pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, and other barriers to learning receive high‑quality, inclusive support that enables strong academic, social, and emotional progress.
This role supports the delivery of the school’s SEND strategy, overseeing statutory compliance, coordinating assessments and provision, and ensuring the effective implementation of the Graduated Approach. The Deputy SENCO contributes to staff training, quality assurance, and the development of adaptive, inclusive classroom practice. They also support the day‑to‑day operation of the Flexible Learning Centre, ensuring personalised interventions, reintegration planning, and robust monitoring of pupil progress.
A key part of the role includes building strong partnerships with families, external professionals, and colleagues across the school. The post-holder line‑manages inclusion support staff, collaborates with curriculum leaders, and works closely with safeguarding teams to support the welfare of vulnerable learners. Through strong leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to inclusive education, the Deputy SENCO helps create an environment where every learner is valued, supported, and able to thrive.
