Your Role

Assistant Headteacher –Sycamore Academy Nottingham

Sycamore Academy is a school that means something to its community. We're based in St Ann's — a vibrant, diverse part of Nottingham — and our 484 children bring energy, curiosity and real character through our doors every day. Our motto is Learning and Caring Together, and we mean it. This isn't a school where you turn up, deliver lessons, and go home.

We're looking for an Assistant Headteacher who gets that.

Someone who is passionate about the earliest years of education and understands the difference that getting it right in EYFS and KS1 makes to everything that follows. You'll lead this phase of our school — shaping the curriculum, developing the team, and making sure every child builds the strongest possible foundations from the moment they join us.

What we're looking for

You'll be an experienced, ambitious leader with a strong track record in EYFS and/or KS1. You know what high-quality early education looks like — the environment, the relationships, the teaching — and you know how to bring a team with you to achieve it. You'll be comfortable using assessment to drive progress, and confident having the honest conversations that move practice forward.

Experience working in a diverse, urban school is a real advantage. You'll also need genuine belief that every child, regardless of their starting point, can achieve — because our children prove that every day.

What you'll get

Sycamore is part of the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust — 27 academies across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. That means genuine career development, a network of like-minded professionals, and the kind of support that makes a real difference. We invest in our leaders at every level, and you won't be left to figure things out alone.

We're a school on a journey and we're proud of how far we've come. If you want to be part of what comes next, we'd love to hear from you.

L.E.A.D. Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
